Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 15, 2025

At PulseWaveX, we take your privacy seriously. This isn't just another boilerplate document — we actually care about how your information gets handled. Operating from Taiwan means we're subject to some of the region's data protection standards, and we've built our practices around both legal requirements and what we'd want if we were in your shoes.

We're an educational platform focused on stock market trading fundamentals. That means we collect certain information to provide you with courses, track your progress, and occasionally send you updates about new content. Nothing sneaky, nothing excessive.

Information We Collect

Let's be direct about what we gather and why. When you sign up or interact with our platform, here's what we typically see:

Personal Identification Information

This includes your name, email address, and phone number if you choose to provide it. We need your email for account access and course delivery. Your name helps us personalize your learning experience. The phone number? That's optional, but some students prefer SMS notifications about upcoming live sessions.

Learning Activity Data

We track which lessons you've completed, quiz scores, time spent on different modules, and areas where you might be struggling. This isn't about surveillance — it helps us understand if our teaching methods work and where we need to improve our content. Plus, you probably want to see your own progress, right?

  • Course enrollment dates and completion status
  • Assessment results and practice trading simulations
  • Discussion forum posts and questions submitted
  • Feedback surveys and course ratings

Technical Information

Like most websites, we collect standard tech data: IP address, browser type, device information, operating system. We also use cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. Nothing unusual here, but we're required to tell you about it under Taiwan's regulations.

How We Use Your Information

We're not selling your data to advertisers or spamming you with unrelated offers. Here's what actually happens with your information:

Course Delivery: Your email gives you access to learning materials. Your progress data helps us suggest relevant next steps in your trading education journey.

Platform Improvement: Aggregated data shows us which topics need better explanations or where students commonly get confused.

Communication: We send course updates, new module announcements, and occasionally market analysis insights relevant to what you're learning. You can opt out anytime.

Support Services: When you contact us with questions, we need to access your account details to actually help you.

We occasionally analyze patterns across all users to refine our curriculum. For example, if most students breeze through technical analysis but struggle with risk management, that tells us something useful. But this analysis uses anonymized data — we're looking at trends, not individuals.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We're pretty protective of your information, but complete isolation isn't realistic for an online platform. Here's who might see your data and under what circumstances:

Service Providers

Our email system runs through a third-party provider. Video hosting happens on another platform. Payment processing (if you purchase premium courses) goes through a secure payment gateway. These companies sign agreements promising they won't use your data for anything except providing their specific service to us.

Legal Requirements

Taiwan law sometimes requires disclosure. If there's a legitimate legal request or investigation, we might have to hand over information. We'd push back on overly broad requests, but we're not above the law.

Business Transfers

If PulseWaveX were acquired or merged with another company, your data would transfer as part of that transaction. The new owner would still be bound by this privacy policy unless they notify you otherwise and give you options.

What we don't do: Sell your information to marketing companies, share it with social media platforms for advertising, or provide it to third parties for their own business purposes. Your learning journey is between you and us.

Your Rights and Control

Under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act and our own principles, you have several rights. Here's what you can do and how to actually do it:

Your Right What It Means How to Exercise It
Access See what personal data we have about you Email contact@pulsewavex.com with "Data Access Request" in subject
Correction Fix inaccurate information in your profile Update directly in account settings or contact support
Deletion Request removal of your account and associated data Submit deletion request via support or call +886422210166
Export Receive a copy of your data in portable format Request data export through account settings
Opt-Out Stop receiving marketing communications Click unsubscribe in any email or adjust email preferences

We typically respond to these requests within 15 business days. Sometimes we need to verify your identity first — don't be offended if we ask security questions before handing over sensitive information.

There are limits, though. We can't delete records we're legally required to keep for tax or regulatory purposes. And we might retain some information in backup systems for a reasonable period even after deletion requests.

Data Security Measures

Security isn't just about fancy technology — it's about thoughtful practices and constant vigilance. Here's how we protect your information:

All data transmission happens over encrypted connections (TLS 1.3 at minimum). Your passwords are hashed and salted, meaning even we can't see them. Our servers sit behind firewalls and access is restricted to essential personnel only.

We conduct regular security audits and keep our software updated. Staff members receive training on data handling and privacy practices. Payment information never touches our servers — it goes directly to our payment processor.

But let's be honest: no system is completely bulletproof. If we ever experience a data breach that affects your personal information, we'll notify you within 72 hours and explain what happened, what was compromised, and what we're doing about it. Taiwan law requires this, but we'd do it anyway because it's the right thing.

Data Retention

We don't hoard information indefinitely. Different data types have different retention schedules based on their purpose:

  • Active Accounts: Your profile and learning data stay accessible as long as your account remains active
  • Inactive Accounts: After 24 months of inactivity, we send warnings before eventual data deletion
  • Course Completion Records: Kept for 7 years to support certification verification requests
  • Financial Records: Maintained for 5 years as required by Taiwan tax regulations
  • Marketing Communications: Contact preferences maintained until you opt out or close your account
  • Technical Logs: Typically purged after 90 days unless needed for security investigations

When data reaches its retention limit, we delete it from active systems. Backup archives might take an additional 30-60 days to cycle through, but eventual deletion is guaranteed.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies get a bad reputation, but they're mostly just helpful tools for remembering your preferences. Here's what we actually use:

Essential Cookies

These keep you logged in and remember basic settings. Without them, you'd have to sign in again every time you click to a new page. We can't really function without these.

Performance Cookies

These help us understand which features get used most and where people encounter problems. For instance, if everyone abandons a particular quiz halfway through, that's useful feedback. This data is anonymous.

Preference Cookies

These remember things like your interface language preference, whether you prefer light or dark mode, and similar customization choices.

We don't use advertising cookies or share cookie data with social media platforms. Your browser settings can block or delete cookies, though some platform features might not work properly if you do.

International Data Transfers

Our primary servers are located in Taiwan, but some service providers operate globally. For example, our email platform might route messages through servers in multiple countries for reliability.

When data leaves Taiwan, we ensure it's protected by contractual safeguards that meet or exceed local standards. Our service agreements require third parties to maintain appropriate security regardless of where their servers physically sit.

If you're accessing our platform from outside Taiwan, your data will be transferred here for processing. By using our services, you acknowledge and accept this transfer.

Children's Privacy

Our courses focus on stock market fundamentals, which isn't typically appropriate content for children anyway. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 years old.

If you're a parent who discovers your child created an account without permission, contact us immediately. We'll delete the account and associated data promptly. We're not interested in maintaining accounts for minors who shouldn't be learning about trading yet.

Changes to This Policy

Privacy practices evolve with technology and regulations. When we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top and notify active users via email if the changes are significant.

We won't retroactively change how we handle data we've already collected without giving you notice and options. If you disagree with updated terms, you can close your account before they take effect.

Minor clarifications or additions that don't affect your rights might happen without individual notification, but we'll always maintain a complete version history available on request.

Questions or Concerns?

If something in this policy is unclear or you have specific privacy questions, we're here to answer them. Not everything fits neatly into a policy document, and sometimes you just need to talk to an actual person.
